Previously known as THE AVENGERS PROJECT
This is an up and coming action/adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. It is published by Square Enix.
This is the first time Crystal Dynamics has a taken on a project that wasn’t related to Tomb Raider in fourteen years. It is of course based on the Marvel Comics Group super-team the Avengers, but it is not exactly the comic book nor is it exactly the movies but rather the characters are a loose approximation of both.

The game will be released for Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020.
As designed the game can be played offline as a single-player experience or online with up to four players during certain aspects of the game. The customization options will include uniforms and abilities – which can be upgraded using a skill tree. Uniforms have been sourced from all parts of the Marvel Universe and can be bought separately as DLC. Players will also be able to receive free updates containing new characters and new regions.
The game will feature a large number of characters drawn from the Marvel Universe such as Black Widow (played by Laura Bailey), Captain America (played by Jeff Schine), Hank Pym, Hawkeye, Hulk (played by Troy Baker), Iron Man (played by Nolan North), Thor (played by Travis Willingham) – not to mention Kamala Khan. In the course of the game the heroes will come into conflict with several super-villains such as the Abomination and the Taskmaster.

The story begins in San Francisco on A-Day where the Avengers are celebrating the unveiling of a second headquarters and their very own helicarrier powered by a Terrigen Crystal. Things soon go wrong when a catastrophic event results in most of San Francisco being destroyed and Captain America apparently being killed. The Avengers are blamed and forced to disband. Five years later San Francisco has been rebuilt and is under the control of A.I.M. with super-heroes outlawed. But with the world once again in danger the only hope is to reassemble the Avengers, avenge Captain America, and uncover the truth about A-Day!
The Marvel Entertainment YouTube Channel released a teaser trailer announcing the game on January 26, 2017. More than two years later at the video game convention E3 2019, Square Enix hosted a press conference that shared more details about the game. This included a full trailer and release date. The 14-minute presentation showcased a trailer made from in-game footage, a brief description of the gameplay including characters, multiplayer and customization, and a preview of the actors behind the game.
Marvel’s Avengers promises to combine an extraordinary story with single-player and co-operative game play. With regular content updates, this game will take players on an epic journey delivered over many years. This will be the definitive Avengers gaming experience.
