Just as we posted our Top Five Star Trek Captains, last week, we decided to celebrate Batman Day in a similar vein. Interestingly, every year, Batman Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of every September. So you get two of my favorite properties on my birthday month. Coincidence?
#5

“I have to admit that I didn’t believe the guy could pull it off because I thought he was too old, but he had to play up against Superman and one of the most attractive actors in Hollywood. The man has grit and acting chops.” — The Mustache
“I’ll admit that he was playing Michael Keaton as Batman. He was still better than George (let me sleepwalk thru this) Clooney.” — The Beard

#4

“Of course, he was playing Keaton as Batman! He followed the guy who made two very successful Batman movies, and his responsibility was to not #$%& (mess) it up! I enjoyed his method acting.” — The Mustache
“You gotta feel for the guy. He makes 3 knockout movies to make himself #1 Batman, only to have Michael Keaton stage a comeback and blow him and everyone else away.” — The Beard

#3

“Who would have thought that this 1980s comedic actor would have initiated a revival of the Batman franchise through a serious cinematic portrayal of the iconic character that would transcend all media: comic books, books, TV, theatre and movies.” — The Mustache
“Never gets his own movie, and still ranks higher than George (my Bat suit has nipples) Clooney.” — The Beard

#2

“I know that I will have to defend this position, because we older Batman fans have a nostalgic attachment to our first encounter with the Dark Knight; however, this is not the DARK Knight. I loved him and may he rest in peace, but there is somebody objectively better.” — The Mustache
“The man utters the immortal words,”I’m Batman!” and cements the truth of that forever.” — The Beard

#1

“I know the actor is certifiable, himself; which lends itself to a more realistic portrayal of a man that is so single-minded of purpose that 20 years after the murder of his parents he continues to be motivated enough to fight crime in a bat (shall I say crazy) suit. Bale IS Batman!” — The Mustache
“His television series and feature film was often played for laughs, but I’m not rating them. I’m rating the man in the bat suit. When I close my eyes and think of Batman, he is the one who comes to mind. ‘Nuff said! — The Beard

So those are our Top Five Batman actors. I know The Beard was hard on George Clooney, but Clooney deserved it. He is an Academy Award winning actor, and he couldn’t get up enough energy to play this iconic role? Will Arnett would have been higher on our lists than “pretty boy” Clooney. (West called him that in a Big Bang Theory episode.) Arnett played Batman in the Lego Batman movie and he was awesome.
So Citizens of the Geekosphere, thanks for your attention, and celebrate Batman Day by watching some Batman movies or TV shows. We will be doing a Red Capers very soon just before we launch our Geektoberfest celebration — a full month of horror. I can’t wait! Take care. God Bless.
