Geektoberfest Day 1: Allow Me to Introduce Myself

It’s the first day of October and my best friend and I have decided to start a blog. Its been a long time coming.  We’ve been creative since we came out of our respective Mom’s nether regions and when we met as young men, we created things together. We are both older and grayer, at this point of our lives, and far wiser than we were back then, but we also have never really grown up. We have over one hundred years of creativity between the two of us and so we wanted to demonstrate some of that wisdom by writing about genre works. So this is our blog and we’re calling it, “The Mustache and The Beard.”

We’re just two gray geeks trying to change the world one post at a time. Consequently, we have decided to initiate our site with a celebration of all things geek-related calling it “Geektoberfest!” We will be demonstrating throughout this month, via articles and sundry vehicles, all the things we love about our particular brand of entertainment. Yes, it’s October, and we know that this is the time of year when people get the tickles for a little horror in preparation for Halloween, so clearly there will be some horror offerings here, but that won’t be all. We tell stories, so you can be certain that we will sprinkle in anecdotes of the lives we’ve led and the people we’ve seen, met, and interacted with. Some of them are even famous, or infamous. The Three Amigos say that “infamous means MORE famous.”

We are geeks with a multitude of tastes. We like anime, science fiction, fantasy, role playing games (RPGs), tabletop games, mysteries, secret agents, pulp heroes, and superheroes on various platforms such as books, music, comic books, YouTube, movies, and TV. We might even get into video gaming, because we’re old school gamers from back in the day, but we both left our stuff in the states, when we moved to Puerto Rico. So we will have to wait and see. Still, I’m not going to lie, I still keep an eye out for consoles and the newest games. You never know when the itch will strike me to get back into it with both feet. I remember Skyrim, Fallout, and the Last of Us with a yearning like the way you might turn toward your partner in bed and she’s not there any more. For now, I will have to content myself with the polyhedral dice that sit on my desk as I type this.

Getting back to our celebration. As an initiation into the blogging world, we have committed to starting our site with a BANG! Today and every day in October, we will be posting a new genre-related post! Which means that by the end of October you will have 31 posts written by either The Mustache or the Beard, and maybe some stuff will be by the both of us. I’m guessing that the together stuff will probably be the funniest stuff, because The Beard is hilarious, and when I play the straight man, he goes way overboard. We even plan to do some video podcasting, which is something neither of us have ever done, but we’re willing to try. I did some podcasting a couple of years ago for my oldest son’s website, EvilGeekCult.com. It was a lot of fun. I hope you will love it, as well.

As for the rest, I hope you will subscribe to this blog. If you subscribe you will be automatically notified every time a post is uploaded. How easy is that? There is a comment section below, where you can voice your comments and we hope to communicate every time someone posts a comment. Please be respectful, because we will only approve respectful comments. You can disagree with us all you want, but you don’t have to be a douche bag about it.
